Kukkolankoski cultural heritage
Kukkolankoski is a village by the Torne river with vivid traditional fishing culture. In the summer season fishermen catch whitefish in the rapids with a dipnet following the centuries old tradition. The catch is shared every summer evening at 6 pm in an intriguing ceremony at the rapids field.
Come witness the quirky tradition and try the most famous dish: whitefish on a skewer cooked on open fire!
During the summer season some events are organized at the rapids field and a cafe welcomes visitors.
